So you want to turn pro

I thought of this article when I was considering (very briefly) shooting the painters work.

An old one but a really good one

So you say you want to turn pro

  1. Yeah, it's very good advice and even more so with the highly competitive nature of digital. But, bottom line is I think you've got it, always had.

Just crank up to "Rankin" level and you are away!

  2. I think the best advice from the essay is knowing what you're about. So many people make the mistake of thinking that photography is a subject when it's a medium. I am a photographer therefore I can photograph everything

Fair enough, go nuts to them I say. But the photographers that have pricked me know what they're about and devoted themselves to it. You know a Robert Capa from a Don McCullen, an Arbus from a Levitt and an Evans from a Smith. A shore from an Adams (Robert) an Adams from an Adams (Ansel)...

I like your pictures much more than Rankins. Maybe I should crank up my Smithness
